This painting of radishes is part of my Painting a Day for Pandemic project. Every day through the end of the April I'm going to paint & sell an original watercolor for $50 & at the end of the month, donate half the proceeds to a person or organization in particular need due to the current economic situation.

‘Radishes’ : Are they not just so beautiful?? To be honest, I think I started buying them for their looks but then their presence in my kitchen demanded that they be eaten. That’s when I discovered how spicy & delicious they are raw. They’re also a good substitute for potatoes with a pot roast if you’re watching your carb intake. My favorite use for them lately, though, is as a fresh, crunchy topping for “poke bowls” (quotations because I think, technically, poke bowls have raw tuna but we often do them with shrimp. . . & so do our local restaurants so I guess we’re all appropriating the name for rice bowls of whatever iteration we want. Sorry, Hawaii:).
