Bananas!
Bananas!
This painting of Bananas is part of my Painting a Day for Pandemic project. Every day through the end of the April I'm going to paint & sell an original watercolor for $50 & at the end of the month, donate half the proceeds to a person or organization in particular need due to the current economic situation.
‘Bananas!’ : To be honest, I never thought of bananas as an object of beauty (nor objet d’art) until I saw them growing on trees in Key West. The leaves are gorgeous- some of my favorite foliage, in fact- as are the banana blooms, but the way the bunches hang vertically on those long stems really is beautiful as well. These particular bananas are just ordinary ones from the grocery store but they do make a lovely painting, don’t they? I thought they were at the perfect stage of ripeness; still a hint of green at the stem with a few brown spots beginning to form. If they turn too brown before I get around to eating them, I’ll put them in the freezer for banana “ice cream” later on. And in case you don’t know what that is, I’ll include a recipe below- it’s one of our favorite warm weather treats!
1 frozen banana
1/4 cup almond milk
1 tablespoon peanut butter
1 teaspoon cacao
A drizzle of honey
Blend in a Vitamix or food processor & enjoy!
