The inspiration for this collection is more feeling than concept but since I can’t transfer feelings to you directly, I’ll attempt to put them into words. . .
Sunshine warming my skin feels like ease & freedom, cicadas sounding from sundrenched boxwoods, soft breezes, far-off lands, no agenda, tea with lots of ice, novels, the scent of tomato vine. Sunshine warming my skin gives me the feeling of summer . . . which is so much more than a certain type of weather. The sensory aspects of our world make me feel cared for- that’s why I paint them. We don’t live in a pragmatic world; we need the sun to sustain our lives but it doesn’t have to feel good on our skin or look so beautiful glinting off the water. We need trees for oxygen but there’s no practical reason that the play of light & shadow should delight our souls. I wrote a mantra earlier this year which continues to nourish me & I hope it will do the same for you: “This world is a place of beauty, mystery & possibility which supports me in service to our creator & loving father”. I don’t mean to make religious art but roots are roots.
A collection of 9 original watercolors | 8x10 - 12x16 | The 8x10’s are already framed. I am happy to assist with framing needs on the others; most of them take standard sizes.
