Inspiration is sometimes hard to boil down into words and sentences; such concrete things they are! Citrus fruits combined with treasures from the sea and ancient Greek vessels came together in my mind, I suppose, from daydreaming of the Amalfi Coast mixed with a bit of Homer and an urge for loose, charcoal sketching. This became the jumping off point for watercolor paintings rather than the more refined & planned style of some of my other work. The first piece in this collection is really the Agean Picnic Blanket but here I introduce the original paintings, starting with Cockle & Orange. I thought it would be fun to introduce the pieces one at a time, as I finish them -probably a week apart- rather than the collection as a whole. They are fanciful musings from my daydreams and I hope you find them as cheering as I do!
