'Solomon's Seal' Limited Edition Print
‘Solomon’s Seal’ : Our house was built in 1941 and, judging by the amount of mail we receive for other people, has passed through a lot of hands (hands that don’t like filling out change of address forms, apparently!). We purchased it from a couple who were both professors but had not actually lived in the home for 5 years. They’d both taken jobs at a university in Colorado and rented the house for several years before deciding to sell. Needless to say, the yard was a MESS when we moved in- renters don’t do much in the way of yardwork. It’s clear, though, that someone at some point in this home’s history really loved plants. There are a number of beautiful things in the yard & ones you don’t see every day. As we’ve slowly cleaned up the mess & re-landscaped, it’s been fun to discover & work around these beautiful plants, allowing them to be focal points once again. This Solomon’s Seal is my absolute favorite thing in the yard & was an easy inspiration for this project!
‘Solomon’s Seal’ is part of my Painting a Day for Pandemic collection. For 20 days in April I painted & sold an original watercolor for $50 (a fraction of my regular price). At the end of the month I donated 50% of the proceeds to CWS to help with the housing needs of refugees in our community. It was a tremendously joyful & creativite time, despite the uncertainty of the circumstances— all thanks to my collectors & fans who offered their generous support & feedback. Thank you!
