Solomon's Seal

Solomon's Seal

$50.00

This painting of a sprig of Solomon’s Seal is part of my Painting a Day for Pandemic project. Every day through the end of the April I'm going to paint & sell an original watercolor for $50 & at the end of the month, donate half the proceeds to a person or organization in particular need due to the current economic situation.

‘Solomon’s Seal’ : Our house was built in 1941 and, judging by the amount of mail we receive for other people, has passed through a lot of hands (hands that don’t like filling out change of address forms, apparently!). We purchased it from a couple who were both professors but had not actually lived in the home for 5 years. They’d both taken jobs at a university in Colorado and rented the house for several years before deciding to sell. Needless to say, the yard was a MESS when we moved in- renters don’t do much in the way of yardwork. It’s clear, though, that someone at some point in this home’s history really loved plants. There are a number of beautiful things in the yard & ones you don’t see every day. As we’ve slowly cleaned up the mess & re-landscaped, it’s been fun to discover & work around these beautiful plants, allowing them to be focal points once again. This Solomon’s Seal is my absolute favorite thing in the yard & was an easy inspiration for this project!
